VISITING BY COACH

Coach visits are no longer accepted during weekends, Bank Holidays, or between May and August inclusive.

With the exception of School Coaches (CLICK HERE)

Following a review of coach visits and peak-time pressures, we have updated our arrangements for coach access.

Outside of these periods, coach parking may be available by advance arrangement, subject to capacity and at a charge of ÂŁ250 per coach.

West Wittering Beach is a natural, family-friendly environment, and during busy periods our priority is to make sure everyone can enjoy the beach safely, comfortably and respectfully.

Limited exceptions may be considered by the Estate Office for organised and supervised groups, such as schools or structured activity groups, where visits can be managed appropriately.

Coach parking must always be booked in advance, as spaces are limited.

There are no coach drop-off or pick-up facilities at West Wittering Beach.

Coaches cannot drop off passengers on site.

The nearest public coach parking facilities are in Chichester. Groups arriving by coach must park on site. Anything over 16 seats is classed as a coach.

If you are planning a group visit and are unsure whether these arrangements apply to you, please contact the Estate Office before making any plans.

Thank you for your understanding and for helping us protect the character of West Wittering Beach for everyone.

School Booking

If your school wishes to organise a visit to the West Wittering beach or East Head during term time, please contact us prior to booking transport and making arrangements with parents. We carry out our own risk assessments and public safety forms a major part of these assessments. As a result we limit the number of school parties each day.

All schools must complete their own risk assessment before visiting.

If you pre-book well in advance, we will not charge entry for the coach (normally ÂŁ250). You may also request a brief talk from our lifeguards on beach safety (during the summer season).

If you require information for your school, college or university course we are very happy to answer specific questions about the management of a tourist beach:

  • car numbers
  • waste disposal
  • first aid
  • lifeguards
  • water quality
  • effect on the local community
  • lost children
  • public safety on the beach
