FAQ'S

Can I bring my Dog?

Dogs are not allowed on the main swimming beach (groynes 14a–18, in front of the beach huts) from May to September. Dogs are allowed on all other parts of the beach all year round.

Please clean up after your dog, keep it under control, and do not leave it in a vehicle on hot days. Fines of up to £1,000 may apply under the Clean Neighbourhood and Environment Act 2005.

isposable BBQs are NOT allowed anywhere on the Estate, including the beach, car park, open spaces, Cakeham Estate, and East Head.

Portable, reusable BBQs and stoves are allowed.

Please do not put hot coals in normal bins, as they can cause fires. Make sure coals are fully extinguished by letting them cool completely or soaking them with water. Once safe, leave them beside the bin in a non-flammable container.

Camping and over-night stops are not permitted on West Wittering beach, its car park, Cakeham Estate or East Head. There are a number of local camp sites in the area, details of which can be seen below.

Please note caravans and trailers are not permitted anywhere on the estate.

There can be some shingle or pebbly areas near the high-tide line in places, but overall it’s considered one of the better sandy beaches on the south coast.

Disabled parking is available at the car park entrance and opposite the Beach Café. During the summer months, when spaces fill quickly, additional accessible parking is reserved behind the Workshop.

Accessible toilets are located at the car park entrance, the Beach Café, and near East Head. These facilities require a RADAR key, which can be obtained from the Estate Office, Workshop, Beach Café, or Lifeguard Headquarters.

Beach access is limited. A steep concrete ramp near the windsurf club provides the only structured access point, while other areas may be difficult to navigate due to shifting sand and pebbles. Fine sand can also damage standard wheelchairs, so we recommend using our beach wheelchairs for a safer and more comfortable experience.

If you are using the hoist, please remember to bring your own sling, as these are not provided on site.

Our beachside café is a coastal haven for locals and visitors alike, offering a delicious all-day menu with something for every taste, from hearty breakfasts to light, healthy options. Enjoy fine wines, beers, and a shop stocked with beach essentials to complete your visit.

For quick treats or cold drinks, our takeaway window is at your service, and in peak season, additional food concessions bring extra excitement with hot takeaway options.

Come and savor the beauty of the coast, indulge in our cuisine, and make lasting memories—one plate at a time.
