Disabled Access and Facilities
Disabled parking is available at the car park entrance and across from the Beach Café. In summer, when spaces fill quickly, we reserve extra spots behind the Workshop.
Accessible toilets are located at the car park entrance, Beach Café, and near East Head. They require a RADAR key, available at the Estate Office, Workshop, Beach Café, and Lifeguard Headquarters. To improve accessibility, we are adding a full disabled/changing unit to the new Safety & Facilities Hub, opening in Summer 2024.
Beach access is limited. A steep concrete ramp near the windsurf club provides the only structured entry. Elsewhere, shifting sand and pebbles make access difficult. Fine sand can also damage standard wheelchairs, so we recommend using our beach wheelchairs for a safer and smoother experience.
Sandcruiser and Sandpiper Beach Wheelchairs
To help visitors enjoy the beach, we offer four Sandcruiser (adult) and one Sandpiper (child) beach wheelchair. One was generously donated, while we provided the rest to improve accessibility.
These wheelchairs handle sand with ease. Large balloon tyres provide smooth movement, while front castor wheels allow full 360° turns. A 48cm seat height, raising armrests, and adjustable leg rests ensure a safe and comfortable ride.
You can borrow a wheelchair with a £20 deposit, fully refunded upon return. Demand is high, so we recommend booking in advance
