This Sunday, 14th September, will be the final day of lifeguard patrols at West Wittering Beach for 2025. Their last shift also marks the close of our Blue Flag season, which runs through the summer months to provide the highest standards of safety, water quality, and visitor facilities.

Our West Wittering Estate lifeguards have been a daily presence on the sand since May, working tirelessly to keep visitors safe. From setting up the flags each morning, to responding to emergencies in the surf, their work is at the heart of what makes West Wittering such a safe and welcoming beach.

This summer, our lifeguard team have:

  • Assisted 100 people in the water.
  • Provided 187 first aid treatments.
  • Helped reunite 356 missing children with their families.

Every action has helped people enjoy the beach with confidence.

We’d like to give a huge thank you to the whole team for their professionalism, dedication, and calm under pressure. Whether it’s helping a child who’s lost their parents, assisting swimmers caught in a rip current, or treating cuts, scrapes, and stings, the lifeguards provide reassurance and expertise when it matters most.

As the patrol season ends, please remember that:

  • No lifeguards will be on duty from Monday 15th September.
  • The sea conditions can quickly change in autumn and winter with cold water, stronger tides, and bigger waves all make swimming more dangerous.
  • If you do enter the water, take extra care and always let someone know your plans.

Everyone at West Wittering Estate is proud of our lifeguard team and grateful for their efforts in keeping visitors safe throughout the summer.

We look forward to welcoming them back in 2026.
